About Me
Prior to coming to Camphor, I served the University Spiritually Alive United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana (Indiana Conference) from 1999 to 2013.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cheyney State University (1975) and Masters of Divinity degree, cum laude, from the Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta, Georgia (1978). In May 1990, I was conferred the Doctor of Ministry degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. My dissertation was, “Health and Wellness in the African American Churches in the Twentieth Century, An Ongoing Program.”
I have been delivering the preached Word for over 39 years and remain focused on ministry which edifies the body, mind and spirit. Previous appointments were Gaines UMC, Cincinnati, Ohio (West Ohio Conference) from 1988 to 1999; Wiley UMC, Springfield, Ohio (West Ohio Conference) from 1981 to 1988; Wesley UMC, Jeffersonville, Indiana (Indiana Conference) from 1978 to 1981; and my first appointment at Hosanna, Bethel and Wardell UMC (a 3 point charge) in Griffin, Georgia from 1976 to 1978.
At the conference level, I have served as Chairperson of the Commission of Religion and Race (South Indiana Conference), Chairperson for the Ethnic Minority Local Church (West Ohio Conference) and Chairperson of Strengthening Local Churches through Biblical Education (Indiana Conference).
Young people hold a special place in my heart and I enjoy encouraging them to higher standards and expectation. I am often called upon to share my preaching, writing and teaching skills at various area colleges and university: Adjunct Professor for over 12 years at the University of Cincinnati from 1996 to 1999, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College from 1993 to 1998 and METHESCO Seminary, Delaware, Ohio, from 1986 to 1987.
Throughout my ministry, I have served as a preacher, lecturer, theologian in residence and keynote speaker for banquets, graduation ceremonies, seminars, retreats and revivals. I am frequently called as Scripture Interpreter and Bible Study Teacher for church groups, public organizations and private societies. I am a spiritual counselor.
I am married to Nannette Allen Moore and have four grown children -- Anthony, Ezekiel, Ezra and Frannette.
I have served in the United States Marine Corps and am a Vietnam Veteran. My civic and school activities include the N.A.A.C.P. and Board Member of National Junior Tennis League. My hobbies include tennis, basketball, martial arts, fishing and chess.
It is my desire is to give my best yet years, continuing to teach and preach the Good News to all people. .
