Hello! Great to meet you!I'm known at Camphor and in the surrounding Haddington community in West Philadelphia as "Doc" - the senior pastor at the historic Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church. My wife, Nannette, and I relocated to Philadelphia from Indianapolis in 2013 when I was appointed by Bishop Peggy Johnson to serve Camphor. It has been a joy to return to the area where I attended college, Cheyney University, and where many of my family members live. The people of Camphor are amazingly diverse in their spiritual gifts and it is a blessing to see how my Biblical training, preaching and teaching empowers ministries that meet the needs of the congregation and the community in this large city.
In the photo behind me is Bishop Alexander Priestly Camphor, great educator, preacher, and missionary who was the first African-American diplomat appointed by President Theodore Roosevelt to Monrovia, Liberia in 1908. |
